Randon is expanding its production capacity with a focus on the Brazilian market for Chassis-Cab bodies. The start of final assembly operations for this type of vehicle in Paulínia (SP) in the second half of last year was the latest move from the Manufacturer business division to meet the market demand, which exceeded 70,000 units in 2022, according to data from the National Association of Road Implement Manufacturers (Anfir).
Additionally, the industrial unit exclusively dedicated to the manufacturing and assembly of Chassis-Cab product lines, opened in the city of Messias (AL) in 2021, is part of the capacity expansion cycle. Installed alongside the distributor Rodoap, initially to serve the strategic market in the Northeast region, the factory will focus on all Chassis-Cab body production from this year onward.
According to Sandro Trentin, Director-General of the Manufacturer Division at Randon, the opening of the Paulínia assembly unit, with efforts to optimize logistics to receive production from Alagoas, accelerates supply to the Southeast, the country's main purchasing region.
"The size of the Chassis-Cab bodies market in Brazil is similar to that of semi-trailers, and we see the great potential for the recovery of this business in the country. The operations in Paulínia and Messias are strategic for this move. We are optimistic about the growth forecast for this volume in 2023 and the coming years," he emphasizes.
Final assembly and coupling to trucks occur in both Paulínia and other points in Randon's Distributor Network across the country. Strategic partnerships with companies specialized in operations of this nature have enabled these operations.
Currently, Randon's portfolio serves about 70% of the domestic Chassis-Cab body market. The main product is the General Cargo Van Body. In 2022, production began for Refrigerated Bodies and Dump Bodies. The company also manufactures Beverage Bodies and Dry Cargo Bodies.
